Bristol City Council has completed a phased migration of its planning back-office systems to an open source stack centred on PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and a custom Django-based case management application. The project, delivered in partnership with Dxw, is expected to save the authority approximately £340,000 over five years compared to renewing its previous proprietary licence. The council has committed to publishing the codebase on GitHub under an MIT licence.
