Architectural and engineering practices submitting bids for National Highways and Network Rail contracts are increasingly turning to Blender for high-quality infrastructure visualisation, according to a survey by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. Practices including Grimshaw and Expedition Engineering have incorporated Blender into BIM-linked visualisation pipelines, using the open source tool alongside IFC-compatible plugins. The trend is partly driven by the collapse of fixed-price rendering software subscriptions following the Autodesk pricing overhaul.
