Berlin-based AEC software startup BuildOS has released its core BIM file format specification and reference parser under the Apache 2.0 licence, positioning it as a vendor-neutral alternative to Autodesk's proprietary RVT format. The specification supports IFC 4.3 alignment and is already being evaluated by several UK contractor groups including Tier 1 firms Laing O'Rourke and Skanska UK. The BuildOS community repository on GitHub attracted over 1,200 stars within its first week.
