Kier Group has completed a phased rollout of OpenProject across its infrastructure division, replacing Microsoft Project for approximately 1,200 project managers and site engineers. The self-hosted deployment, running on Kier's private cloud, was chosen following a competitive evaluation that also included open source rival Redmine. Kier's digital team reported that custom work package configurations allowed the platform to align closely with its existing NEC contract management processes without significant bespoke development.
