The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has quietly launched a beta planning consultation layer built on OpenStreetMap and the open source Leaflet.js framework, integrated into the Planning Data platform at planning.data.gov.uk. The tool allows residents to visualise proposed development boundaries without requiring proprietary map licences. OSGeo:UK has welcomed the move, describing it as a significant step toward open infrastructure underpinning England's digital planning reform programme.
