Bristol City Council has completed a migration of its public-facing planning map portal to an open source stack centred on OpenLayers and GeoServer, replacing a proprietary Esri solution. The project, delivered in partnership with Astun Technology, is estimated to save the council approximately £120,000 over five years in licensing costs. The new portal integrates directly with the council's back-office Uniform planning system via open APIs.
