The Planning Inspectorate has begun evaluating open source digital planning tools developed under the DLUHC-funded Open Digital Planning project, including the PropTech-backed BOPS case management system, for potential adoption in appeals handling. The evaluation forms part of a broader government push to standardise planning software across local authorities in England. A procurement decision is expected by late 2025 following user research with five pilot authorities.
