The QGIS project has released version 3.38, introducing improved IFC file support and direct linkage with OpenBIM workflows, enabling architects and planners to overlay building information models on geospatial data. The update has been welcomed by OSGeo UK, which noted particular benefits for local authority spatial planning teams. Several councils, including Bristol City Council, are already piloting the new capabilities within their development management workflows.
