A growing number of UK architectural practices, including Stride Treglown and Haworth Tompkins, are adopting Blender alongside the BlenderBIM Add-on as a cost-effective alternative to Autodesk Revit for design visualisation and IFC authoring. A survey by NBS found that 28 percent of SME practices have trialled the open source toolchain in the past 12 months. The shift is partly driven by Autodesk's move to subscription-only licensing.
