The open source IFC.js library, which enables browser-based viewing and manipulation of Industry Foundation Classes building data, is seeing rapidly growing adoption among mid-tier UK construction firms including Willmott Dixon and Kier Group. Developers are embedding IFC.js into project handover portals to reduce dependency on Autodesk Forge licensing fees. The project's maintainers announced a new governance structure under the buildingSMART International community this month.
