OpenStreetMap UK Community Launches Street-Level Data Audit for Active Travel Zones

/

OpenStreetMap UK has partnered with Sustrans and Transport for Wales to launch a structured community mapping audit targeting active travel infrastructure across Welsh local authorities. Volunteers are using the open source StreetComplete mobile app to survey footway surfaces, dropped kerbs, and cycle lane classifications. The resulting dataset will feed directly into Welsh Government modelling tools used to allocate Active Travel Act funding to councils including Cardiff, Swansea, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
