PostGIS Underpins New National Highway Asset Management Platform

/

National Highways has launched a new internal asset management platform built on PostGIS and PostgreSQL, replacing a proprietary ESRI geodatabase solution that had been in place since 2009. The platform, developed with Sheffield-based consultancy Datalayer, manages spatial records for over 4,500 miles of motorway and major A-road infrastructure. The switch is expected to save National Highways approximately £1.2 million over the next five years in database licensing fees.
