A survey by the RIBA Tech Group found that 34 percent of UK architecture practices with more than 50 staff have migrated at least one core database workload from Oracle to PostgreSQL in the past two years, driven by rising Oracle licensing costs. Practices cited tools such as PostGIS for spatial data management as a significant draw. Firms including Allies and Morrison and Hawkins Brown were among those referenced in the report.
