The Planning Inspectorate for England and Wales is trialling a new case management system built on the open source Camunda workflow engine, developed in collaboration with the Government Digital Service. The pilot covers nationally significant infrastructure project applications and aims to reduce average decision timescales by 20 percent. A public beta is expected to launch by Q1 2026 if the trial meets its KPIs.
