Leeds City Council has deployed a self-hosted Nextcloud instance for its development management and planning policy teams as part of a broader data sovereignty initiative. The council cited concerns over data residency and rising Microsoft licensing costs as primary drivers. The deployment, configured by systems integrator Datacentred, provides document collaboration and secure file sharing for approximately 240 planning officers, with a broader rollout across the council under review.
