PostgreSQL Chosen as Core Database for DLUHC’s New Digital Planning Infrastructure

/

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has confirmed that PostgreSQL will underpin the database infrastructure of its open digital planning platform, built in collaboration with the Planning Advisory Service and several pathfinder councils including Buckinghamshire and Southwark. The decision aligns with the government's open standards commitment and the GDS technology code of practice. PostGIS extensions will enable spatial queries across planning application datasets.
