The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has begun a pilot of an open source planning data pipeline combining FoundationDB for distributed storage with Simon Willison's Datasette framework to publish planning constraints and land availability data as explorable APIs. The pilot, running in partnership with six local planning authorities including South Cambridgeshire and Medway Council, is intended to inform the next phase of the Planning Data programme. Code and documentation are being published openly on the MHCLG GitHub organisation.
