A consortium led by Mott MacDonald has built a construction logistics and routing tool for the HS2 project using OpenStreetMap data combined with the open source routing engine OSRM, enabling real-time HGV route optimisation across affected local authority areas. The tool is designed to reduce community impact from construction traffic and feeds live data into a public-facing Leaflet.js dashboard. Project leads have committed to open-sourcing the routing configuration and custom OSM map styles on completion.
