OpenProject Replaces Jira at Bristol City Council After Licensing Cost Review

Bristol City Council has completed a rollout of OpenProject as its primary project management platform, replacing Atlassian Jira across its digital and technology directorate. The decision followed a procurement review that identified Jira licensing as disproportionate for a public sector body of Bristol's scale. The council is self-hosting OpenProject on its existing VMware infrastructure and has contributed several bug fixes upstream to the project's community edition repository.
