Homes England Pilots OpenStreetMap Data for Strategic Land Availability Assessments

/

Homes England has announced a pilot programme using OpenStreetMap data, processed through PostGIS and pgRouting, to support Strategic Land Availability Assessments across five priority housing zones in the Midlands. The initiative aims to reduce dependency on proprietary spatial datasets and cut licensing costs estimated at over £400,000 annually. Results from the pilot are expected to be published under an open government licence later this year.
