The OSGeo UK chapter has launched a structured free training programme targeting GIS officers within English and Welsh local authorities, focused on PostGIS and QGIS as alternatives to Esri ArcGIS. The twelve-week online course covers spatial SQL, raster analysis, and integration with open data portals such as the Ordnance Survey Data Hub. The initiative is funded through a grant from the Open Knowledge Foundation and aims to enrol 200 council staff in its first cohort.
