The OSGeo project has released QGIS 3.38, introducing native CityGML 2.0 read and write support, a move widely welcomed by UK local authorities managing 3D city models. The update allows planners and GIS teams to import building data directly from BIM workflows without third-party conversion tools. Several London boroughs, including Southwark and Lambeth, are reported to be piloting the feature within their digital planning infrastructure.
