The Planning Inspectorate has begun a technical evaluation of Apache OFBiz and a bespoke Open Case API layer to manage planning appeals case workflows, replacing a legacy system dating from 2009. The project, supported by the Central Digital and Data Office, is intended to align with the government's digital-by-default and open-standards agenda. A public GitHub repository containing early API documentation has already attracted contributions from civic tech developers.
