The FreeCAD development community has merged a new plugin into the BIM Workbench that pulls topographic data directly from OpenTopoMap and OpenStreetMap APIs, enabling architects to generate terrain meshes from real-world site coordinates without leaving the application. Early testing by UK practice Stride Treglown suggests significant time savings during site analysis stages. The feature is available in FreeCAD 1.0 nightly builds pending stable release.
