A consortium of six Welsh local authorities, including Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire County Councils, has completed a joint migration from Esri ArcGIS to QGIS as part of a shared services initiative backed by the Welsh Government's digital transformation fund. The move is expected to save the authorities a combined £400,000 annually in licensing costs. OSGeo:UK provided technical guidance during the transition period.
