The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has confirmed that its third round of Planning Software Improvement Fund pathfinder grants will explicitly favour open source or openly licensed digital planning tools. Twelve local planning authorities, including Dacorum Borough Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, have been selected to develop reusable components under an open licence. The initiative builds on earlier work from the Open Digital Planning project, which produced the open source PlanX platform.
