Homes England has launched a pilot programme exploring open-source BIM workflows, combining Blender with the BlenderBIM Add-on and IFC 4.3 file standards across three residential development schemes in the Midlands. The initiative aims to reduce vendor lock-in with proprietary tools such as Autodesk Revit and lower costs for smaller housing association partners. Results from the pilot are expected to be published in a case study by Q3 2025.
