The Scottish Government's Digital Planning programme has mandated adoption of the Open Planning Data Standard, based on the open source planning.data.gov.uk schema developed by DLUHC, across all 32 Scottish planning authorities by March 2026. Funding of £2.1 million has been allocated to support smaller councils with data migration and staff training. The move aligns Scotland with England's emerging national planning data infrastructure.
