The UK Planning Inspectorate has begun a trial of OpenCRX, an open source customer relationship and case management platform, to handle public submissions for nationally significant infrastructure projects. The pilot, running across three current Development Consent Order examinations, aims to reduce dependence on a legacy proprietary system whose support contract expires in March 2026. A full evaluation report is expected by Q1 2025.
