Thames Water has deployed Apache Flink as the core stream-processing engine for its new real-time infrastructure monitoring platform, which ingests sensor data from over 12,000 assets across its network in London and the Thames Valley. The implementation, delivered in partnership with data engineering consultancy Owain Systems, replaces a commercial SCADA-adjacent analytics layer. The utility says the shift to open source tooling has cut its data platform licensing spend by roughly 40 percent annually.
