The OpenBIM Consortium has announced renewed advocacy for mandatory IFC open standard adoption across UK public infrastructure projects valued above £10 million, ahead of anticipated updates to the UK BIM Framework. The group, which includes Arup, Atkins, and several SME contractors, argues that proprietary BIM file formats continue to create costly interoperability barriers. A formal response to the Infrastructure and Projects Authority consultation is expected before the end of Q3.
