Engineering consultancy Arup has contributed a set of advanced structural analysis modules to the OpenSees finite element framework, covering nonlinear dynamic analysis for tall timber buildings. The contribution, made under a BSD licence, follows internal development work on a series of mass timber residential projects in the UK and Singapore. Arup's open source lead described the move as part of a broader strategy to build shared computational tools across the structural engineering industry.
