Homes England has open-sourced a Python-based Land Availability Assessment toolkit designed to help local planning authorities automate parts of their housing land supply calculations. The toolkit, published under an MIT licence on GitHub, integrates with OS MasterMap data and the Planning Data platform maintained by MHCLG. Several authorities including Bristol City Council and Shropshire Council have already contributed pull requests to improve rural site classification logic.
